About Us

From Scratch With Care

Why From Scratch? We make our natural soap from scratch so that we can control every aspect of the finished product from wholesome natural ingredient selection to ecologically responsible compostable packaging. As we live with chemical sensitivities in our home we appreciate the need for chemical-free products.
The Sandy Hook Soap Factory is a small family business located in the Interlake region of Manitoba creating small batch handmade natural soap from carefully chosen wholesome ingredients since 2003. We produce long lasting, Lake friendly products which feel wonderful on the skin free from dyes, preservatives and chemicals with little to no use of plastics in manufacture or packaging. We have taken an oath with the Natural Ingredient Resource Centre to make truly natural soap and our products do not contain the following: parabens, propylene glycol, EDTA, phthalates, SLS, petroleum derivatives, chemical scents (parfum or fragrance), colourants or dyes. The Sandy Hook soap Factory has been in partnership with Plan Canada for several years and to date we have aided in the drilling of eight boreholes by directing five cents of every dollar of gross sales to this worthy project drilling wells in impoverished communities throughout the World. Greener Alternative
Most mass produced conventional soaps offer an inexpensive option at the expense of ingredient integrity by way of petroleum ingredients, chemical fragrances and chemical preservatives. Always read labels and don't be afraid to ask questions, please remember that there are no guidelines in Canada for use of the term "natural".
Handmade with Care
As a great baker will add a bit of love to each batch as does a caring soap maker. Small batch soap makers can make several different recipes offering help to those with sensitivities or ingredient concerns. Over the years we have been able to help many clients with their product sensitivity issues due to our diligence.
Vegan Options
We are very pleased to offer several vegan varieties of pure natural soap as well as soothing bath salts , head-to-toe body shampoo bars and lovely gift sets. We note if vegan with every product description. None of our products are ever tested on animals and none of the ingredients either. Never have, never will.
